Edward Boston (E.B.) Endres

Providing outstanding quality, complete service and a value you can see is a tradition that has been passed down through several generations, from the founder E.B. Endres to current owner Richard J. Endres, Jr.
  • 1928 - Edward Boston Endres (E. B. for short) moved to Huntingdon, where he began building and remodeling as a general contractor of residential and commercial properties. E. B. Endres Lumber Company was born.
  • The business expanded to include a retail business, a mill (located on 11th Street), and nearly two dozen employees.
  • Richard Endres, Sr., Arthur Neary, Sr., and Donald Whittaker took over the business in 1945, opening a second location in Mount Union.
  • By 1960, the partners purchased West End Planing Mill (located at 1500 Penn Street in Huntingdon).
  • The company became a display dealer for Wood-Mode cabinetry, a partnership that continues to this day.
  • 1963 - Arthur Neary, Jr. joins the company. He later is placed in charge of mill operations.
  • 1972 - The Mount Union location is destroyed by Hurrican Agnes.
  • 1972 - Richard Endres, Jr. began working as a carpenter.
  • 1977 - A new mill is constructed on Fairgrounds Road in the Huntingdon Industrial Park to replace the West End Mill, which had been destroyed by fire.
  • 1990s - Richard Jr. and Arthur Jr. become owners of the business.
  • 1997 - Richard Jr. takes over as sole owner. Operations are later consolidated to the Fairgrounds Road facility, closing the retail business.
